The willing and joyful giving of your money is to be done as a response to God (Matthew 6:21). You give not to earn favor with God, but as a form of thankfulness, joy and worship to God (2 Corinthians 9:7). You should give because He first gave Himself through Jesus Christ, and your giving is a symbol of your desire to serve and follow Him (1 Timothy 6:17-19). At ACC, we believe all we have is God's: the money that we give to the Church and the money that we keep in our pockets (Matthew 25:14-30). So giving really is about stewardship and managing all that God has given us. We want you to give to help our local church proclaim the greatness of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 8:1-7). We want as many people to know Jesus: within our church, within Dubuque and around the World.
We never want people to give out of a sense of obligation. The Bible is very clear that our motivations are important to God, and God wants a 'cheerful giver' (2 Corinthians 9:7). So the amount you give really is not the main question to ask. The main question is whether your heart is thankful, filled with joy and if your giving is in a loving response to who God is (1 Corinthians 13:3). If that is true, then the amount you give becomes an overflow of that reality. Some believe that you need to give 10% of your income to the local church. This standard (known as a 'tithe') was an Old Testament command, but is not a duty for the Christian today. The apostle Paul's instruction to the Corinthians--and to us today--was to give sacrificially, willingly, and joyfully (2 Corinthians 8).

ACC seeks to use the money that is given in the most transparent and God-honoring manner. We provide financial support for a number of missionaries and Christian workers both in the U.S. and throughout the world. We use the funds to purchase supplies, curriculum, and resources for our Children's and Youth Ministries. We use the money to care for those that are hurting, those that need a meal, and many others that need care and support. We also use the gifts you give to pay the basic realities of rent, utilities, and the everyday running of a church. We want to be open and honest about where the money goes, so we regularly provide financial updates in our bulletins and online. If you have specific questions or want to see more about our financials, please speak to any of the Elders and we would be happy to sit down with you and share the financial blessings God has provided to our local church.
